Daily Yoga Asana Practice

You will have 3 to 4 hours of daily yoga practice. 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening.  In this section, we will cover all poses and will practice both static and dynamic regimes, will learn vinyasas and basic warm-up and joint loosening/strengthening sequences such as pavana muktasana, surya namaskar, chandra namaskar, etc.

Alignment Classes

In alignment classes, you will learn asanas in every detail. First, the instructor demonstrates the asana and explains its geometry and alignment principles.

You will learn the purpose of the asana, indication, and contraindications, main muscular engagement, area of release, points of stability and grounding, the effect on the spine, joints, and internal organs. Then you will look at the modifications and tiny changes of alignment and will learn how these changes affect the overall effect of asana and are especially effective on the spine and joints.

In this way, you will create an understanding of asana geometry rather than learn “how it should be” and teach the only possible way without discrimination. Then we will analyze the alignment of asana in an environment of “asana laboratory” where one student performs the pose and other students analyze it according to the information they learned.

After analysis of all the points and offering their cues and adjustments, all students try to perform the asana with an understanding of its geometry, weight distribution, and internal muscle work.

Vocal/Music/Nada Yoga Classes

Along with all the yoga practices, you will also get the opportunity to learn vocal (bhajan, kirtans, mantra chanting), nada yoga, and Indian music lessons from the top musicians and nada yoga masters of Rishikesh, India.

I really enjoyed this course. I not only learned proper alignment for my asana practice, different styles of meditation practices but I learned how to dissolve my past histories and emerge in this present moment fully activated and at peace within my body and mind. Along this path of inner transformation at which I am still on, I found myself joined and emmersed within a greater community, a precious family.

The 200 hour course at Nada Yoga School is very intense at times but definately essential for those wishing to become teachers. The course gives a good background knowledge of theory, as well as practice. The teacher are very professional and supportive to students. I have enjoyed the course very much and made many friends.

Ever since I started my physical practice of yoga, I also became fascinated with bakhti music (devotional music). After which I decided to find a school that could teach me both. And, Nada Yoga school was the right choice. I believed music can be practiced as yoga, and this yoga course really deepened my knowledge in this science. But most of all, I was blessed to meet dedicated teachers like Bhuwan Chandra (school’s director and Nad Yoga Master) and the team of Great Yoga Teachers who made me feel at home during the course and made the experience a memorable one, that one can never forget.

Mornings begin with Shatkarma on the side stoop of the yoga hall during which cows saunter by, butterflies flit in tall grasses, monks playing flute music can be heard. These visual and aural perceptions are subdued reminders of what students learn at Nada Yoga School, namely to move more harmoniously with nature, to slow down and move with one’s inhale and exhale. Through the school’s well-designed course, a student is exposed to thought-provoking teachings from instructors with wide-ranging backgrounds. These teaching touch on many topics; however, a student never feels lost or overwhelmed by all of the new knowledge they are gaining. This is due to the fact that the instructors are always willing to spend time helping a student understand a new or difficult concept, no matter how long it takes. It is difficult for me to sum up everything that I learned from my course. In part, this is because what I learned can’t be summarized in language; it was transmuted through my body and into vital energy.
